What is the National Employment Service (NES)
The National Employment Service (NES) is a publicly funded division of the Ministry of Labour and Small Enterprise Development that was strategically developed to focus on employment across Trinidad and Tobago. The Overseas Employment Unit is under the purview of the National Employment Services (NES), and provides an avenue for seasonal agricultural employment in Canada under the Commonwealth/Caribbean Seasonal Agricultural Workers' Programme. 

What is the aim & purpose of the National Employment Service? 
The aim and purpose of the National Employment Services (NES)? is to change the way companies recruit applicants by searching for qualified jobseekers from the NES database and for jobseekers, it brings them in contact with employers, at absolutely no cost. 

Why is the National Employment Service (NES) important
The National Employment Services (NES) assist all organizations, both private and public sector in the recruitment and selection processes. 

The services provided include:  

• Facilitating the traditional job referral activities to our walk- in clients. 

• Assisting clients with online registration. 

• Providing personalised employment/career counselling. 

• Recruiting and Selecting T&T Citizens to work on agricultural holdings in Canada. 

• Posting of vacancies on our website, social media feeds and bulletin boards. 

• Supporting services for displaced persons through our “Adversity to Opportunity” Programme. Services are inclusive of referrals for employment, counselling, retraining, up-skilling and entrepreneurial opportunities. 

• Conducting World of Work workshop/seminars to secondary, tertiary and technical and vocational institutions, focusing on topics relevant to career guidance, cover letter and résumé writing, interview preparation and mock interview sessions. 

• Partnering with governmental and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in outreach activities. 

Where can you visit and contact the National Employment Service?
There are eight (8) National Employment Services (NES) offices strategically located throughout Trinidad and Tobago for ease of accessibility. Office hours are: 

  • Mondays to Thursdays- 8 am to 4.15 pm 
  • Fridays- 8 am to 4.00 pm
